Townland Atlas of Ulster

This week I will be attending a book launch in Belfast, for the Townland Atlas of Ulster, written by Andrew Kane and published by the Ulster Historical Foundation.

I have been privileged to see the book before publication, and it is magnificent. Anyone researching their family history in this part of Ireland will find this valuable. If you have a townland name for your ancestors’ home, but feel like you’re in a maze, this book will guide you through the maze to the location, landowners, estate papers and other sources of information.

If you’re reading this blog, you may well be interested in this book, so here is a link to the Ulster Historical Foundation for buying it. https://ulsterhistoricalfoundation.com/shop/products/townland-atlas

And – short notice! – if you’re within reach of Belfast, you may well be interested in joining us at the book launch. The book launch takes place at the Public Record Office for Northern Ireland (PRONI) on Thursday 5 December. It’s free – just register at Eventbrite.com. You can use the link below.
